Residents of St. Petersburg, 18 years and older, were provided an opportunity to select up to three (3) preferred New Pier Concepts of the seven (7) under consideration. The City wishes to thank the 16,797 participants (9631 verified city residents over the age of 18) who participated in the survey to make their interests known.

Said Mayor Rick Kriseman: “I want to thank everyone who participated in this unprecedented survey, a worthwhile endeavor that will inform the Selection Committee as they make their recommendations later this month. The key to this process has always been transparency, and that is why it was important to take the pulse of the community and hear their voice. I look forward to next steps as we plan for a new St. Petersburg Pier.”

The results of the survey will be provided to the Pier Selection Committee for its review along with a total of seven evaluation criteria, for consideration in the rating of A/E teams with their respective concepts. Additional criteria to include technical review of budget, permit ability through federal, state and local agencies, operational costs, environmental awareness, and achievement of programmatic desires. The Pier Selection process follows Florida’s Consultant Competitive Negotiation Act.

The committee will meet on March 20th to rank the concepts and provide to the Mayor and City Council for approval.
