spb-logoThe city has invited residents to a “State of the City” presentation in chambers at 5pm. Friday, May1, with a celebratory “First Annual Beach Ball” concert in Horan Park immediately afterward and starting at 6 pm. The Sound Wave band will perform. Bring lawn chairs, an appetite and enjoy.

Verducci Italian Market ‘Ready’

The restaurant business has finally slowed down to the point that the owners can now focus on stocking inventory for the new Market at Blind Pass and 78th Ave. in St. Pete Beach. June is a realistic time to look for an opening. “The height of season would have been too crazy a time to open the new venture,” said Vinnie Fortunato, spokesperson for the new venture. “We wanted to get the building completely ready and open at a slower time. We never want to disappoint our customers, so we want to get our staff trained during the slower summer time.”

Maritana Grille at Loew’s Don CeSar has a new “St. Pete Farmers Market”.  “Some of the best ingredients come from local growers! Pass-a-Grille Re-Paving Project Planning continues toward a start to this project, which is expected to take two years. Weekly Thursday meetings continue, in spite of the departure of Public Works Director Steven Hallock.

Greenbacks Bar is open while work continues inside the Upham Beach location a block west of McDonalds. Last month’s Paradise NEWS incorrectly named Rory Hardin of the Salty Rim as an investor. Both Roryand Jimmy Jordan, of Sloppy Pelican fame, confirmed that Jimmy is actually the primary investor.

PAG THRIFT SHOP – MAY SALE For the month of May already low prices will be slashed on the entire stock at The Thrift Shop of Pass-A-Grille Beach Community Church.From May 2-9, dishes and glassware will be reduced by 75%; from May 11-16, books, kitchen goods and small appliances by 50% and from May 18 to May 30, everything in the shop will be half price. The shop stocks only new and quality used merchandise donated by church and community members. In addition to an outstanding Men’s & Women’s sections and sales items, a large inventory of jewelry, drapes, bedspreads, housewares, wall pictures and games are available. All proceeds support local charities. The shop is located on the corner of 17th Ave. and Pass-A-Grille Way, St. Pete Beach and is open every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday 9 am – noon. The shop will close for the summer May 31st & re-open Tuesday, Sept. 8th.
