Profile: Diane Miksch, CPA

Some long-time beach residents may remember a woman-owned CPA office that used to sit  at the top of the stairs in the courtyard at Dolphin Village Shopping Center with a cockatoo named ‘Baby’ as a mascot.A graduate, with a masters degree in accounting from USF, Diane Miksch was a volunteer of the year for the Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of  Commerce back in those days. When she was  expecting her now 13-year-old son Dylan,  she changed her primary focus to motherhood. In 2009, Diane decided to move her office to  her home, and pay for an addition instead of the increasing rent in the retail center.

Some followed me from other firms, and stayed with me and referred me to their friends and neighbors. One of the reasons people have been so loyal is I try to never overcharge them as some accountants do. I have also been a  networker and referral source for my clients. Some are now retiring or passing on, so it is  time to become visible again,” said Diane.

A CPA for almost 30 years, Diane’s firm has  a concentration in small business accounting,  offering monthly, quarterly or annual bookkeeping. Additional expertise in Business Start-ups, Business Consulting, Tax Planning, Loan Amortization, Estate Planning and Trustee work as well as IRS audits makes her invaluable to her clients.

Miksch & Company CPA’s home office conveys a friendly, relatable, and comfortable  environment. Her company logo and mascot  Sydney – the cockatoo, welcomes clients in with “Hello!” and dancing and Sammy,  (a contestant for the Guinness Book of World Records oldest cockatiel) keeps them all company.

The all woman-operated business prides  itself on supportive client service, providing prompt turn around on tax returns with a focus  on finding ways to keep taxes as low as possible. “Our rates are often surprisingly low to new clients, with tax return fees often less than rates people have paid elsewhere, even to preparers  like H & R Block. If you can get your work done  by a CPA for the same price as an uncertified tax preparer, it makes it an easy decision where to go. Eliminating the cost of a fancy office helps us  keep our rates low.” Diane continued.

Originally from the Chicago area, Diane has  been living in Florida since 1981. When it is not  tax season, Diane and Dylan love to travel.  They have visited each of the 50 states and many foreign destinations. Diane and her support staff are looking for new businesses to work with  and are particularly looking forward to  helping more woman-owned businesses  with their financial challenges.

“Running a woman-owned business myself,  I am aware of special challenges women face,  especially when they are new to the business world. While I have been serving couples and male-owned businesses for decades, I feel I am also well suited to help women address these challenges.”
