Municipal Elections – Tuesday, March 10

Only a handful of municipalities in Pinellas have elections this spring. Only the Mayor’s race is up for grabs in Treasure Island and the District 2 Commissioner Race in St. Pete Beach.

“I really do not think the democratic process is served when candidates for office, even local ones, get elected unopposed,” said Lanahan. Treasure Island has a history of strong popular female leadership. Mayor Mary Maloof was easily re-elected prior to Minning winning the seat.

Rick was appointed to the seat Jim Parent vacated midterm over the city manager’s termination. Rick’s brother Bruno had been commissioner for Pass-a-Grille and Vina for 12 years. Lentino is another resident with  deep roots as a longtime St. Pete Beach family member, a retired performer and elementary school teacher with a longtime commitment to public service.
