freeFall Theatre presents The Pirates of Penzance this August

freeFall once again brings Gilbert and Sullivan to Tampa Bay audiences with a hilarious new adaptation of THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE opening August 6 and running through September 4.

Penzance: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Pirate ship Tarantula.

When Frederic (Nick Lerew) believes his indenture to the Pirate King (Hayden Milanes) is coming to an end, he stumbles upon the lovely daughters of a Major General (Glenn Gover), and falls in love-at-first-sight with winsome Mabel (Kaylin Seckel). But when his former cohorts, the Pirates of Penzance, arrive they capture this bevy of bathing beauties in order to marry them. Will the ladies’ virtue be spared? Will Frederic ever actually reach his twenty-first birthday? Will the Major General ever get another night’s sleep? Of course the topsy-turvy all ends up right in this beloved classic.

In the vein of freeFall’s wildly popular production of THE MIKADO, this irreverent re-imagining of the G&S masterpiece will whisk you away to a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Filled with all-new arrangements by Tampa Bay’s Music Man Michael Raabe, outrageous costumes, droids, light sabers, time travelers, aliens, sci-fi references and laughs galore, THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE is perfect for all ages.

THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE stars Hayden Milanes (Frankie Valli in Broadway’s JERSEY BOYS) as The Pirate King, Resident Company Member Nick Lerew as Fredric, Kaylin Seckel as Mabel, Sara DelBeato as Ruth and Glenn Gover as The Modern Major General. The rest of the cast includes Emanuel Carrero, Robert Teasdale, Hannah Benitez, Kelly Pekar and Will Garrabrant.

THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE is directed and adapted by freeFall Artistic Director Eric Davis.

The production team includes Michael Raabe (Musical Director/Arranger), Matt Davis (Set Design), Scott Daniel (Wig & Make-up Design), Amy Cianci (Costume Design) and Mike Wood (Lighting Design)
